José Maria Ricciardi named Banker of the Year

The magazine World Finance selects José Maria Ricciardi for being a "crucial player in the banking industry." José Maria Ricciardi was highly influential and the man behind the success of Haitong Securities’ acquisition of BESI, explains the magazine in a notice.

The President of the Executive Commission of Haitong Bank, José Maria Ricciardi, was named European Banker of the Year.

This distinction was awarded to him by the British financial publication World Finance, which recognized José Maria Ricciardi for being "a crucial player in the banking sector.”

"José Maria Ricciardi is leading Haitong Bank and has fostered and instilled an ambition to lead the Bank to become a top and forward-thinking global bank, not just in Europe, but the world, during this next phase of its development in the Haitong Group," said the statement sent to the press.

"José Maria Ricciardi was highly influential in finalizing Haitong Securities’ acquisition of BESI." The two firms came together only in September last year, with a single ambition to create a world-leading investment bank. Without his expertise at the helm, Haitong might not be the financial colossus it is today, as it prepares to strengthen its franchises in the EMEA region, India and the Americas," wrote World Finance.

This is the second time that José Maria Ricciardi is honored by this award.
