José Maria Ricciardi awarded European Banker of the Year 2016

The CEO of Haitong Bank, José Maria Ricciardi, won the award for European Banker of the Year. This distinction was awarded by the international financial magazine World Finance, that recognised José Maria Ricciardi for being "a crucial player in the banking sector".

"José Maria Ricciardi is leading Haitong from the front and has fostered an ambition to lead what is one of Europe’s most forward-thinking banks through to its next phase of development. He was highly influential in finalising Haitong Securities’ acquisition of BESI, one of China’s largest and oldest investment banking and securities firms. The two firms came together only in September last year, with a single ambition to create a world-leading investment bank. Without his expertise at the helm, Haitong might not be the financial colossus it is today, as it prepares to strengthen its franchises in the EMEA region, India and the Americas", writes World Finance.

This is the 2nd time José Maria Ricciardi is recognised with this award.
